Prime Blanket + I-cord Cast Off

Today, it’s time to introduce the twelfth and final pattern from Confident Knitting … and let me tell you, it’s a snuggly one. I think we could all use a cuddle right now! Say hello to the beautiful Prime Blanket, designed by the ever-so-talented Carol Feller.

With the Prime Blanket, Carol Feller has designed a beautiful and relaxing pattern that’s all about the details … with an allover basketweave stitch pattern, a little pocket (!) and exquisite i-cord details. Which brings us to this month’s featured technique, the i-cord cast off!

The love of i-cord runs deep here at Arnall-Culliford Techniques. I-cord is simple to work, and yet it gives a really polished and professional finish. In our tutorials this month, Jen shows you how to pick up stitches from around the blanket edges in preparation for your cast off, then, of course, how to work the cast off itself. You’ll find detailed stepwise photos in the pages of Confident Knitting and, as ever, this month’s video tutorials on our YouTube channel.

This cuddly blanket is all the more sumptuous for being knit in Carol Feller’s own yarn line, Stolen Stitches Nua. Nua is a sportweight yarn that’s a unique blend of merino, yak and linen. The result is a blanket that would make a beautiful heirloom for a special little one, but that will also sit happily as an elegant lap blanket in your living room. The pattern provides three sizes (though is easily adjustable) and requires 6, 8 or 13 skeins. Our sale moved very quickly, so we no longer have any yarn for sale (thank you all!). Instead, you can purchase the yarn directly from Carol Feller’s online shop, from Modern Daily Knitting, or find a Fyberspates retailer near you.

We will be celebrating all things i-cord cast off over in the February Confident Knitting knitalong. We’d love to see you there. This will be our last knitalong before the Hub closes for hibernation. We’re looking forward to going out on a high! And of course, if you want to knit the Prime Blanket and don’t have your copy of Confident Knitting, you can snag a print + eBook bundle or eBook only in the online shop. Happy knitting!
