Cheerful Rainbows

In between working on my Transom Cardigan, I have been working on a couple of fun, really colourful projects. First up was my Circle and Square Hat. I’ve already sung the praises of this clever, clever design by Martina Behm, and thought I would just pop in to show you how it turned out. The photo above is the view from the front, where you can clearly see the circle that is folded in half to make the double-thickness.

So where is the square?

Ta da!

The square is how the hat is closed off from the folded circle. This pattern was SO. MUCH. FUN!

And the pattern in combination with Fab Funky Fibers Human Kind colourway, just brings me heaps and heaps of joy. That yarn is out of stock at time of writing, but if you select 100g on the dropdown menu, you have the option to be notified when it is back in stock. In the meantime there are plenty of other beautiful yarns to choose from over there… Beware, it’s a massive rabbit hole of colourful yarn-y delights!

Smiling Rainbow Socks - 1.jpg

Having completed Circle and Square, I really only had my Transom Cardigan on my needles, so that needed rectifying! I cast on for some plain toe-up socks in another skein of Fab Funky Fibres deliciousness. This is the Adventures Over the Rainbow colourway, and it is just making me smile (cheesy photo of socks arranged in a smile… tick!).

I plan to do a true afterthought heel (that’s a link to a photo tutorial), so that I keep the stripes perfect. And this way I can use every scrap of these lovely skeins. I just need to remember to work some increases to allow for my calves…

I am working both socks at the same time, but on separate needles. When I pull them out of my project bag, I simply work on whichever looks shorter, and in this way I can keep track of what I’m doing – not that there’s much to remember at this point! I’m simply knitting a tube for a fair while yet.

So colourful projects are my happy place. What do you knit when you need a bit of a lift? I hope you have something cheering on the go…
