Shetland Trader Book 3 Arrives, and Exciting KAL News!

It’s release day for Gudrun Johnston’s Shetland Trader Book Three: Heritage, and let me tell you, we are pretty excited around here! Our team has been buzzing about this newest book from Gudrun since we first laid eyes on it, and we just can’t wait to get some of the stunning designs onto our needles. And on that note, we have some exciting news to share:

We’re going to be hosting The Shetland Trader Book Three KAL over in The Knitalong Hub!

As I shared a few weeks ago, working on this special book has been such a privilege. So I’m particularly thrilled to be running this KAL with Gudrun … let’s keep the good times rolling!

In The Shetland Trader Book Three: Heritage, Gudrun has created a really moving tribute to her mother, Patricia Johnson, who ran a knitwear business in the 1970s in Shetland. This is a beautiful, personal book, and that really shows in the designs. The shapes and the colours take their inspiration from the 1970s – Gudrun has honoured the time and place of her mother’s work, while also infusing the pieces with a really modern feel. It’s all a testament to the fact that good design is really timeless.

But there’s also tons of scope for your own customisation and play…

For starters, Gudrun’s patterns include instructions for all sorts of variations (over on Instagram yesterday, I saw Meg of Mrs M’s Curiosity Cabinet liken the patterns to recipes … I love that!). And the patterns are, of course, all knitted up in Shetland wool. We’ve got over 70 shades of J&S 2ply Jumper Weight in stock, as well as the full range of undyed Shetland Supreme Jumper Weight, so if you want to come up with your own colourways, there’s virtually no end to the possibilities! But if you’d like to take the guesswork out of choosing colours, we have also set up kits so that you can order with ease.

So, have you picked your project yet? You’ll find our one-stop Shetland Trader Book Three: Heritage online shop here! We are temporarily out of stock of a few kits, but more J&S is on the way, so if you can’t find the option you want, simply drop us a line and we will let you know when your kit comes back into stock. And EU customers, do remember that all orders are limited to €150.00 so that they are VAT inclusive, meaning you can shop confidently! If you wish to order more than €150, please place multiple orders.

I’ve already picked Smora as my first cast on! The pattern comes with beret and beanie options!
