Something to Knit Together, Winter Edition

Winter is coming … and for many of us, it’s going to look very different from years past. Some things, though, are constants for me. As we enter the coldest and darkest part of the year, I get the desire to whip up the squishiest knits I can manage for myself and those I love. And I particularly love to do that knitting in the company of friends. So I am very excited to tell you that, tomorrow, we’re launching a new ebook that really delivers on these fronts: Something to Knit Together, Winter Edition.

We’ve teamed up with the ever-so-talented Natalie Warner to bring you this terrifically cosy capsule collection. Natalie is a lecturer in fashion who teaches in both higher and further education settings and is also a freelance knitwear designer. If you aren’t already following her on Instagram, then do head over there, where she is natalieinstitches. Her feed is a beautiful mix of knitting, gardening and sewing, and her tool tips are brilliant. Natalie has a really thoughtful, knitter-centric approach to her design process, and she’s brought that to this collection. The designs she has dreamed up are rhythmic and soothing; there will be plenty of chances to learn new things (of course) but also nothing too taxing — giving us plenty of scope to enjoy knitting together! The highly knit-able designs work up a treat in our squooshy Something to Knit With Aran – you’ll be snuggling up (or gifting!) your knits before you know it.

Details

Like our first Something to Knit Together collection, Something to Knit Together, Winter Edition is a capsule collection designed with knitting with friends in mind! The ebook has five patterns (three accessories, of which two are small and one is larger, as well as a garment in both sweater and cardigan versions) designed by Natalie Warner. The patterns will be released through December and January, giving you a regular something to look forward to in your inbox! And of course, there will be photo and video tutorials for key techniques, and plenty of cheerleading in our virtual living room, The Knitalong Hub.

Key Dates

Something to Knit Together, Winter Edition goes on sale tomorrow, 19 November. The pattern release schedule is as follows:

First pattern release: Wednesday 2nd December 2020
Second pattern release: Wednesday 16th December 2020
Third and fourth pattern releases: Wednesday 6th January 2021
Fifth pattern release: Wednesday 20th January 2021

Techniques Covered

For newer knitters, this will be an excellent collection to build your skills. All of the patterns have the option to be knitted flat. You can expect tutorials on working basic cables with and without a cable needle. And there’s also a group of tutorials on tidy construction, including picking up stitches and seaming using back stitch, seaming using mattress stitch and setting in a sleevehead – so get ready to boost those finishing skills! Even for knitters familiar with these techniques, there will be plenty of tips and tricks to pick up along the way – plus lots of fun to be had!

Yarn and Kits

All the patterns in this collection are designed for our Something to Knit With Aran, a dreamy blend of superfine alpaca and highland wool. The crisp wool gives amazing stitch definition (just what you want with textures and cables!) and the alpaca adds extra softness. We’ve also put together some fantastic kit options that will launch alongside the ebook tomorrow. The Taster Kit (£38.40) will give you the yarn you’ll need for the two smaller projects; an Accessories Kit (£67.20) includes yarn for the three accessories project; and the Everything Kit (£100 to £148 depending on size) does what it says on the tin: yarn for every project in the collection (all three accessories and your choice of either sweater or cardigan). These kits represent a huge savings (ranging from 20% for the Taster Kit to 50% for the Everything Kit) on buying the yarn individually and will also include free worldwide shipping. The kits sold out extremely quickly for the first Something to Knit Together ebook, so we advise shopping early to avoid disappointment (sign up for the newsletter to be the first to hear when everything goes on sale!).

Community Fun

We’ll be hosting knitalongs to accompany each pattern over in our new online forum, The Knitalong Hub! If you’ve not joined us over there yet, we think the KAL will be a great introduction to our new online space (and a huge thank you to all of you who have already joined us there — we’ve been having a blast!). We’ll also be hosting Zoom knitalong sessions so you can knit with us in real time, as well as with other knitters from around the world. We can’t wait!

So keep your eyes peeled for the drop of Something to Knit Together, Winter Edition! + Kits tomorrow! Do make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter to find out when everything is live and to get our newsletter-exclusive discount!
