The last new stitch I mastered was brioche. I found it quite straightforward once I understood how the stitches worked!!

Congratulations to Barbara - I've sent you an email, so keep an eye on your inbox. Massive thanks again to Romi for her beautiful design for A Year of Techniques, as well as for the kind prize for the giveaway. If you weren't lucky this time, then do head over and get your copy of her 7 reSizeable Shawls eBook and Workbook combination! It's a brilliant collection of patterns with so much scope for variation to suit your yarn and preferences.

I'm about to cast on for Stephen West's Briochevron Wrap as my fun summer knitting project while we're on holiday, so it's great to know that Barbara got on well with brioche stitch. I've not yet used it in a big project, only small swatches. With some help from my friends in my Ravelry group, I've put together some nice, bright and cheery sock yarns from Fyberspates, Skein Queen, Hedgehog Fibres, Sweet Georgia and Uncommon Thread.

With a few days of park knitting, my Little Tern blanket is coming along nicely.

With a few days of park knitting, my Little Tern blanket is coming along nicely.

I'm also making good progress on my Little Tern blanket, which is now large enough to keep my lap quite cosy while I'm knitting. There's no heatwave here in the UK at the moment, so the warmth is very welcome. Will I stay faithful to getting the blanket done this month, or will the appeal of the cheery colours I've selected for the Briochevron Wrap be too distracting and lure me away?
